In the world of dating, I've never really been a fan of a matchmaking service to do my dirty work. Now, don't get me wrong, there are many out there like eHarmony and Match.com that have helped people connect and find each other, but I have always been a fan of meeting people face to face to see if the connection is truly there.

Now, there is a small caveat here with the matchmaking service. If you are using it solely as a way to facilitate the physical meeting, then it is OK. But anything beyond that I think is just a little strange. I mean, I've seen 'internet relationships' go on for months before the people actually even met each other - what does that say about our culture? Call me old fashioned but I think that our nature is visual and a screen, video, microphone and internet connection cannot replace face to face contact, body language, smells and touch.

Now, that doesn't mean that a matchmaking service can't lead to that - so again, use it for what it is good at - skipping the bar scene and finding people you can connect with right away.
